FAQs
frequently asked questions
what type of clothing can i send?
we can use most clothing fabrics - the only exception is materials such as thick denim, leather, wool or fur. we have also used bedding, curtains and fabric from miscellaneous items.
can i give my input on the design of my quilt?
yes, we will always work carefully to include the specific and special parts of the items you send, but if you have any special requests then please do let us know in advance of us initiating your keepsake - put a note in your package that you will be sending us. we will do everything we can to make your ideas work.
are the quilts suitable for babies/children?
as the quilts are made from your precious clothing, we are unable to CE safety test them.
whilst we take every precaution to make these keepsakes as safe as possible, please note that they are sold as keepsakes and NOT toys.
they are unsuitable for sleep and play and are for display purposes only.
they should NOT be left alone with a baby or child unattended/ unsupervised.
Éireloom Dublin cannot accept any liability for the misuse of keepsakes.
keep your keepsake away from fire.
how is this 'the conscious way'?
there are multiple answers to this, firstly we are reusing items that would otherwise be left boxed up and potentially disposed of to landfill/ incinerated in the future.
secondly, the cotton we use to finish the quilts is GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified - ‘This standard stipulates requirements throughout the supply chain for both ecological and labour conditions in textile and apparel manufacturing using organically produced raw materials. Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic, persistent pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. In addition, it includes welfare standards for animal husbandry and prohibits genetically modified organisms.’ - global-standard.org.
lastly, your bespoke quilt is hand crafted in our home studio located in the heart of Dublin, therefore we are not contributing to extra co2 emissions by outsourcing labour abroad.
